Всемирный день «The Beatles»
С 2001 года по решению ЮНЕСКО 16 января отмечается Всемирный день «The Beatles».
Дата, конечно, выбрана не случайно. 16 января 1957 года в Ливерпуле открылся клуб "TheCavern", где начали свой путь к славе тогда еще никому не известные молодые музыканты Джон Леннон, Пол Маккартни и Джордж Харрисон. Спустя несколько лет к ним присоединился еще один будущий «битл» — Ринго Старр. Позже 16 января случилось еще одно знаменательное событие в истории: в этот день в 1964 году журнал «Cashbox» присвоил песне "I Want To Hold Your Hand" первое место в американском хит-параде, после того как этот сингл разошелся миллионным тиражом всего за 10 дней. "The Beatles" - величайшая группа 20 столетия, легендарная Ливерпульская Четверка. Четыре молодых человека из Ливерпуля в начале шестидесятых покорили весь мир. Джон, Пол, Джордж, Ринго — имена, ставшие культовыми для огромного количества людей.
В состав группы входили: Джон Леннон (ритм-гитара, фортепьяно, вокал), Пол Маккартни (бас-гитара, фортепьяно, вокал), Ринго Старр(ударные, вокал),Джордж Харрисон (соло-гитара, вокал). В разное время в творчестве Битлз участвовали Пит Бест (ударные, вокал) и Стюарт Сатклифф (бас-гитара, вокал), Джимми Никол (ударные).

Закатом "битломании", скорее всего, следует считать июль 1968 года, когда поклонники группы устроили массовые шествия в последний раз. Это произошло после премьеры мультфильма "Yellow Submarine", немецкого художника Хайнца Эдельманна, где были представлены четыре новые композиции "The Beatles".
17 апреля 1970 года выходит первый сольный альбом Пола Маккартни и в тот же день музыканты официально заявляют о распаде "TheBeatles"

In the early 1960s, their enormous popularity first emerged as "Beatlemania". The Beatles are the best-selling music artists in the United States, with 178 million certified units. They have had more number-one albums on the British charts and sold more singles in the UK than any other act.
