Over the subsequent years, several English versions of the anthem were also created. The official English version of the anthem was written by Mr. Justice Robert Stanley Weir.

                                                                  National symbol of New Zealand

The small species of flightless birds form an invariable part of New Zealand's identity known as kiwi. Different scientific variations have been observed on the behavior of this species of birds after lots of research work. They also form an important part of rich traditional customs of New Zealand where nature is worshipped and apprehended as great gift of God. Thus, these national symbols of New Zealand are a true representation of the life style of the people living there.

It is a native bird which is now an endangered species.  It has given its name to New Zealanders, who are known as "Kiwis" all over the world.  The kiwi is therefore one of the strongest symbols.

According to Maori beliefs the kiwi is the Hidden Bird of Tane, the Guardian of the forest.  The Kiwi is a flightless bird and is very famous for its long beak.

There are five species of Kiwi to be found in New Zealand.  The two main ones are the Brown Kiwi and the Great Spotted Kiwi.  Brown Kiwi are located in forested areas in the North Island, Fiordland, South Westland and Stewart Island.

Great Spotted Kiwi are found on offshore islands and forests in the North of the South Island.

God save our gracious Queen,

Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen:
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.
O Lord, our God, arise,
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall.
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
God save us all.
Thy choicest gifts in store,
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen.

About 1000 giant pandas still survive in the wild, but only a very few have ever been seen aliveoutside China. In 1961 it was adopted as the symbol of the World Wildlife Fund and the panda has become a familiar sight on T-shirts, badges and carstickers. It is certainly popular with children and ragularly rates in the top ten of children's favourite animals.

Giant pandas can live for up to 20 years, and a big male can weigh 150 kilos. They live on a diet of rock-hard bamboo stems. They can eat 4 kilos at a sitting and may chew for 12 hours a day. The threat of extinction has lead to the setting up of a panda research centre in China.
